In an effort to enhance economic cooperation and attract high-quality foreign investment, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn engaged in significant discussions with leaders of major South Korean conglomerates during his visit to Seoul. The meetings focused on expanding investments in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development.
President Mẫn praised Samsung Electronics for its substantial contributions to Vietnam, including investment, job creation, and support for local businesses. In a conversation with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn encouraged further expansion of Samsung’s high-tech investments to support Vietnam’s economic growth. Roh assured that Samsung will continue to align its activities with Vietnam’s development priorities, which include digital transformation, technological innovation, and workforce development. The company has also been assisting Vietnamese businesses through programs focusing on smart factories, automation, and skills development.
In another strategic meeting, Mẫn met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won to discuss investment opportunities in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and emission-reduction technologies. Mẫn expressed his approval of SK’s proposal to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and its intentions to explore investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers, which are aligned with Vietnam’s development goals.
During his discussions with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, President Mẫn acknowledged LG Group’s over $10 billion investment in Vietnam, highlighting the importance of deepening cooperation with Vietnamese suppliers and enhancing technology and skills development. LG reiterated that Vietnam plays a pivotal role in its global production network. Furthermore, Mẫn’s meeting with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin focused on expanding investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He urged Lotte to accelerate major projects with an emphasis on sustainability, green development, and ESG standards.
These engagements underscore Vietnam’s strategic focus on strengthening economic ties with South Korea, particularly in the realms of advanced technology, energy, and digital industries. By facilitating these partnerships, Vietnam aims to bolster its economic landscape through high-tech foreign investments and collaborative ventures in key sectors.
