Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, focusing on expanding their relationship in trade, investment, and various key sectors. The Vietnamese leader, Tô Lâm, emphasized the strengthening ties, highlighting that by 2025 Côte d’Ivoire had emerged as Vietnam’s largest trading partner on the African continent. Lâm urged for broader cooperation, advocating for a diversification of trade beyond the traditional focus on products like cashew nuts and rice.
In addition to trade, Vietnam is keen to foster investment partnerships in numerous sectors, including agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, mineral processing, and electric vehicles. This marks a strategic push by Vietnam to not only solidify its economic collaboration with Côte d’Ivoire but also to tap into the diverse opportunities present in these industries.
Côte d’Ivoire, on its part, has shown a strong interest in welcoming Vietnamese businesses and is eager to extend cooperative efforts across the broader West African region. This mutual interest signifies a promising outlook for increased collaboration and economic integration between the two nations, benefiting multiple facets of their economies.
Furthermore, both countries are exploring ways to deepen their relationship through parliamentary exchanges, education initiatives, workforce development, and fostering people-to-people connections. These discussions underscore a comprehensive approach to bilateral cooperation, aiming to strengthen their ties not just economically but also culturally and socially.
