The strengthening of economic and trade relations between Qatar and Vietnam was the focal point of a recent meeting held at the Qatar Chamber’s headquarters in Lusail. Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, the First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, welcomed Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, to discuss potential areas of collaboration and growth between the two nations.
During the discussions, both officials highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of Qatar and Vietnam. They explored new investment opportunities and identified key sectors that could benefit from future collaboration. Al Kuwari emphasized Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and joint investment projects, acknowledging Vietnam’s robust economic performance.
Ambassador Hiep expressed Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic ties with Qatar, pointing out that bilateral trade between the countries surpassed $860 million in 2024, which is an increase of $100 million from the previous year. He encouraged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in agriculture, food processing, and halal products. The ambassador also underscored the significance of Qatar Chamber’s role in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal goods within the Qatari market.
As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen these ties, Hiep extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Ho Chi Minh City next September. This annual exhibition is a prominent global trade event, focusing on sourcing, exports, and supply chain cooperation. It attracts international companies and industry leaders from various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
