Vietnam and Japan have reinforced their dedication to enhancing the collaboration between their governing parties and legislative bodies. This reaffirmation came during discussions in Hanoi, led by Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two nations celebrated the ongoing progress of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and committed to furthering political dialogue and exchanges between their parliaments. This decision follows Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year, which laid the groundwork for deeper cooperation.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s impressive economic growth and the strides made in administrative reforms. He suggested that Japan could play a crucial role in sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization, which would aid Vietnam’s institutional advancement. Additionally, he advocated for increased collaboration in several key areas, including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
Further, Nguyễn Duy Ngọc proposed enhancing the relationship between the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and increasing interactions among young lawmakers. Another significant point of discussion was the Vietnamese community in Japan. The Vietnamese side requested ongoing support for this community and suggested simplifying visa procedures, with the ultimate aim of achieving visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens to Japan.
Hagiuda Koichi expressed his backing for broadening the scope of bilateral cooperation. He assured that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and its parliament would persist in fostering exchanges and collaborative efforts, particularly in the fields of advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy. This commitment underscores the mutual interest in strengthening ties across multiple sectors, paving the way for a robust partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
