Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm has urged Hà Nội to boost its economic growth while maintaining a focus on sustainability, governance, and enhancing residents’ quality of life. In a meeting with city leaders, Tô Lâm commended Hà Nội for its advancements in institutional reforms, infrastructure upgrades, and administrative improvements. However, he pointed out several challenges the city faces, such as slower-than-anticipated growth, underutilization of resources, and delays in implementing major urban projects.
To address these issues, Tô Lâm encouraged the city’s authorities to mobilize idle resources and expedite crucial infrastructure developments. He emphasized the need for bolstering support in sectors such as business, tourism, and innovation while simultaneously enhancing public services. He highlighted specific areas that require urgent attention, including reducing traffic congestion, addressing pollution, expanding housing options, and investing in education, healthcare, and digital transformation.
Hà Nội has set an ambitious target to achieve an 11% Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth by 2026. This comes after the city recorded an impressive 8.22% economic growth in the first half of the current year, surpassing the national average. Such a target underlines Hà Nội’s commitment to accelerating its economic progress while ensuring that it aligns with sustainable development goals.
Tô Lâm’s remarks underscore the importance of strategic planning and efficient execution in achieving these economic objectives. By unlocking potential resources and prioritizing key projects, Hà Nội aims to not only enhance its economic standing but also to provide a better living environment for its citizens.
