Thailand Boosts Air Links with Vietnam, UAE through Advanced Aviation Technology

Thailand is taking significant steps to enhance its international aviation network through strategic collaborations with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai. This initiative includes upgrading regional airport systems to bolster connectivity and support the tourism sector, which plays a crucial role in the country’s economy.

Vietnam Airlines has recently launched a new route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket, commencing on July 2. This service operates four times a week, with an annual capacity of approximately 39,500 seats. The introduction of this route is designed to cater to the increasing travel demand from Vietnam, which saw over 300,000 Vietnamese tourists visiting Thailand in the first half of the year.

Simultaneously, flydubai has initiated daily flights between Dubai and Bangkok as of July 1, with plans to ramp up this service to twice daily starting September 15. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Thailand, providing more travel options for passengers and boosting bilateral ties.

In a separate development, Thailand is set to implement the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at its regional airports. This system is designed to improve air traffic management, boost operational efficiency, and enhance access to secondary cities. The first phase of AFIS deployment is planned for Phrae and Phetchabun airports by 2028, with potential future expansions to other regional airports across the country.

These initiatives reflect Thailand’s commitment to expanding its aviation capabilities, thereby supporting its tourism industry and facilitating greater international connectivity. By upgrading airport systems and forging new airline partnerships, Thailand aims to attract more visitors and strengthen its position in the global travel landscape.
