In a meeting held in Beijing on October 12, Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man and Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, underscored the importance of enhancing people-to-people ties between Vietnam and China. Tran Thanh Man emphasized how such exchanges are crucial for strengthening the bilateral relationship, which has seen significant development.
The Vietnamese leader called for deeper and more sustainable cooperation through various initiatives, including the Vietnam-China People’s Forum, the Border People’s Friendship Festival, and youth exchange programs. He highlighted the role of friendship organizations in connecting communities, businesses, scholars, young people, and cultural groups from the two countries.
Tran Thanh Man also stressed the need to boost cultural and tourism cooperation in anticipation of the 2026–2027 Vietnam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation. He suggested increasing exchanges between local communities and cultural sites to provide tangible benefits to the people of both nations. Additionally, he urged organizations, researchers, and media representatives to promote accurate information and positive stories about the bilateral relationship, aiming to enhance the younger generation’s understanding of their shared history.
Yang Wanming reaffirmed China’s commitment to solidifying the social foundations of its relationship with Vietnam. He stated that the Chinese association would continue to foster cultural exchanges and mutual understanding in accordance with the shared goals of Vietnam and China’s leadership.
Both sides agreed on the significance of preserving traditional friendships and expanding people-to-people engagement as a means to support stable and long-term relations between the two countries.
