Vietnam Urges Enhanced ASEAN+3 Collaboration in Technology and Digital Innovation Growth

During the recent ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, Việt Nam emphasized the need for enhanced economic integration and regional resilience. Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung urged the member countries of ASEAN, along with China, Japan, and South Korea, to strengthen their collaboration in sectors such as trade, connectivity, and sustainable development. He highlighted the critical importance of effectively implementing regional trade agreements while fostering cooperation in key areas like energy security, food security, digital transformation, innovation, and clean energy.

Minister Lê Hoài Trung also suggested exploring regional energy cooperation mechanisms to better prepare for potential economic and geopolitical challenges. This proposal aims to bolster the region’s resilience against future uncertainties. The meeting underscored ASEAN+3’s pivotal role as a platform for regional cooperation, with participating countries committing to fast-track the ASEAN+3 Work Plan for 2023–2027.

Moreover, the ministers expressed their support for intensifying financial cooperation, expanding regional food reserves, and promoting renewable energy initiatives. They also recognized the importance of investing in education, technology, tourism, and cultural exchanges to foster greater regional integration and resilience.

Additionally, China, Japan, and South Korea reaffirmed their commitment to supporting ASEAN’s central role in regional affairs. They pledged continued assistance in achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, emphasizing the importance of ASEAN’s leadership in driving regional progress and collaboration.
