Vietnam’s Assembly Leader Visits China to Boost Legislative Cooperation

Vietnamese National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn has embarked on an official visit to China, with the primary aim of bolstering bilateral relations and enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two nations. Mẫn’s departure from Hanoi on Sunday marks his first visit to China in his role as Vietnam’s top legislator, reflecting a concerted effort by both countries to deepen their political and institutional ties.

The visit comes at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress. During this trip, Mẫn will co-chair the second session of the cooperation committee between Vietnam’s National Assembly and China’s National People’s Congress. These discussions are expected to focus on improving coordination between the legislative bodies of both nations.

A key goal of Mẫn’s visit is to advance Vietnam’s foreign policy priorities and reinforce parliamentary cooperation as a crucial element of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China. By strengthening this aspect of their relationship, both countries aim to further their long-term bilateral partnership.

This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by Vietnam and China to enhance their political engagement and deepen cooperation on an institutional level. The collaboration between their respective legislative bodies is seen as an important step towards achieving these goals.
