The strengthening ties between Vietnam and Qatar are paving the way for expanded economic opportunities and increased cooperation across various sectors. This development was underscored during Vietnam’s National Day celebration in Doha, where officials from both countries emphasized the significance of peace, dialogue, and international collaboration.
Marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, the event brought together senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep used the occasion to highlight the growth in Vietnam’s relations not only with Qatar but also with the broader international community. The diplomatic relationship between the two nations, which began in 1993, has been steadily expanding to include sectors such as trade, investment, energy, labor, and telecommunications.
The economic partnership between Vietnam and Qatar has shown notable progress. Bilateral trade reached approximately $423 million in 2025, reflecting a robust engagement in business and investment opportunities. The collaboration spans various industries including aviation, agriculture, healthcare, and hospitality, indicating a broad and deepening connection between the two countries.
High-level exchanges have been a significant aspect of this partnership, with Qatar’s prime minister visiting Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a strong interest in further enhancing their bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for economic collaboration. This continued dialogue and partnership signal a promising future for both countries as they work together to achieve mutual economic growth and stability.
